MBABANE– The “Black Bull” family is stepping confidently into a new chapter as Mbabane Highlanders AM officially welcomes back South African coach Selaotse “Sly” Mosala as Head Coach.
The announcement, made through the club’s official social media platforms, has sparked renewed excitement among supporters in the capital. Mosala takes over from Ernest Mavuso, ushering in what many believe will be a revitalised and ambitious phase for the historic club.
A Hero’s Return
Mosala’s appointment is more than just a technical change — it is a homecoming. Fondly remembered by Highlanders faithful, “Sly” previously guided the team to qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup in 2022, a milestone achievement that reaffirmed the club’s stature on the continental stage.
His return to the Ezulwini Sports Ground to meet the players signals a deliberate move to reignite that competitive edge. A respected CAF A Licence holder, Mosala brings experience, tactical discipline and an intimate understanding of the club’s culture and expectations.
Arriving in the country on Monday evening, the coach wasted no time in re-engaging with the squad, underlining his readiness to steer the team forward.
A Respectful Transition
The leadership change follows Ernest Mavuso’s decision to step down — a move widely regarded as one taken in the best interests of the team. His departure has been marked by mutual respect and appreciation.
Club President Shauwn Mkhize commended Mavuso for his dedication and for instilling an “excellent style of football” during his tenure. In his farewell message, Mavuso expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Inkunzi and confidence in the direction the club is taking.
“I have no doubt that the club is in good hands, and I wish Mbabane Highlanders AM well going forward,” he said.
Such a gracious handover sets a positive tone for the transition and reinforces the unity within the Highlanders camp.
