LUVE – The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) on March 7, 2026 officially launched its regional community campaign in Luve, Manzini Region, giving residents a preview of activities leading up to Army Day 2026.
The event attracted large numbers of community members who gathered to witness a variety of military displays and community-focused activities.
Residents were treated to impressive military drill demonstrations, vibrant cultural dance performances and an exciting helicopter showcase, where many took the opportunity to take photographs and interact with soldiers.
As part of the outreach programme, the army also provided free medical services to members of the community, reflecting its commitment to supporting national wellbeing beyond its core defence mandate.
Army Day 2026 will be held on April 10 at the army headquarters in Nokwane after His Majesty King Mswati III declared the date for the national celebration.
The annual event will be commemorated under the theme: “The Safety of the Nation is Our Priority.”
UEDF Public Affairs Officer Sandile Gwebu confirmed that the Luve activation marked the beginning of a nationwide community engagement campaign aimed at bringing the army closer to the people ahead of the 53rd Army Day celebrations.
He said similar outreach programmes will be rolled out across the country in the coming weeks.
The scheduled regional activities are as follows:
• March 7, 2026 – Manzini Region at Luve
• March 14, 2026 – Hhohho Region at Madlangempisi
• March 28, 2026 – Shiselweni Region at Hlathikulu
• April 3, 2026 – Lubombo Region at Mpaka
The regional campaigns are expected to promote public awareness about the role of the defence force while strengthening relations between the army and communities ahead of the main Army Day celebrations at Nokwane.
