MBABANE – What started as a simple graduation vlog has grown into a journey of purpose and passion for Lindelwa Mangwe, a young content creator from Siphocosini.
Mangwe, who was born and raised in Mbabane, began her content creation journey at a turning point in her life. After years of struggling through university, she picked up her smartphone on her graduation day and decided to document the moment. That one video, shared on TikTok, quickly gained attention and positive feedback from her classmates and viewers.
“I didn’t even know what I was doing at the time,” she said. “But people loved it, and that’s how everything started.”
Her content mainly focuses on vlogs, capturing everyday experiences and cultural moments. She says her audience growth has been natural, as she does not target a specific group. Instead, she shares content that feels real to her, allowing people who relate to connect with her work. Cultural content, especially Umhlanga-related posts, has played a big role in attracting followers.
Mangwe currently uses her phone to shoot most of her content, editing through TikTok and CapCut. However, she hopes to upgrade to a camera soon to improve the quality of her work. “I want people to enjoy and appreciate good quality content from me,” she said.
Despite being a qualified nurse and midwife, Mangwe is currently unemployed and focusing on content creation while continuing her job search. She admits that balancing both will require strong time management once she secures employment.
One of her biggest challenges is working with brands that often underpay content creators. She believes the industry is still growing in Eswatini, and many companies do not fully understand the value of digital creators.
Still, Mangwe remains hopeful and driven. Her advice to others is simple: start. “Be yourself, don’t copy others, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there,” she said.
Her story reflects resilience, creativity and the power of simply taking the first step.
