PIGG’S PEAK – Member of Parliament for Pigg’s Peak Constituency Jabulani Mabuza has described the inter-ward cultural competition as an important initiative that promotes unity, strengthens relationships among community members and can contribute to reducing crime.
Mabuza was speaking during the inter-ward cultural competition held at Gobolondlo Hall in Pigg’s Peak yesterday, October 17, 2026, where he commended ward leaders for creating a platform that brings people together through cultural expression and participation.
He said events of this nature encourage residents from different wards to interact, build friendships and develop a sense of love and belonging, which can strengthen community relations and discourage criminal activities.
“This kind of event unites people in the wards and promotes love amongst everyone. When people come together, bond and get to know one another, it can help reduce crime in our communities,” said Mabuza.
The MP also emphasized the importance of protecting and nurturing children, urging parents, teachers and community members to take collective responsibility for their wellbeing and development.
He stressed that children should be properly cared for at home, in schools and within the wider community, noting that raising responsible young people requires the involvement of everyone.
Mabuza’s remarks highlighted the role of community gatherings in creating an environment where children can grow up surrounded by positive values, guidance and support.
Beyond promoting cultural preservation and social cohesion, the MP said the competition presented an opportunity to stimulate economic activity in Pigg’s Peak by attracting visitors who could support local businesses.
He noted that events drawing people from different areas could benefit businesses operating in the town, particularly through increased customer traffic and spending.
The competition brought together participants from different wards to showcase their cultural talents and traditions, providing a platform for cultural expression while encouraging community participation.
The event also featured entertainment and activities that gave residents and visitors an opportunity to celebrate Eswatini’s cultural heritage.
Mabuza commended Pigg’s Peak Town Council and the event organisers for supporting an initiative that brings communities together and creates opportunities for local economic growth.
The inter-ward cultural competition forms part of efforts to promote cultural appreciation, strengthen relationships among residents and position Pigg’s Peak as a destination for community and cultural events.
