MBABANE – Ludzidzini Council’s Bishop Mavovo Mkhontfo says Eswatini’s visible prosperity and peace is as a result of the nation joining Their Majesties in worship.
Bishop Mkhontfo is a member of the Ludzidzini Council and a member of the League of African Churches in Eswatini Executive Committee. He made these remarks on April 8, 2026 in an interview with Eswatini Positive News shortly after the conclusion of the Easter services.
Worth to note is that emaSwati usually join Their Majesties for worship during the Year Opening Prayer and Year Closing Prayer, both usually held at Mandvulo Grand Hall as well as during the Easter services held at Lobamba National Church and Somhlolo National Stadium.
“It is a great honour and privilege for us, as the Christian fraternity in the Kingdom of Eswatini, to gather with Their Majesties during the Easter services. On Friday, we came to gather at the Lobamba National Church in the presence of Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, and on Sunday, we gathered at Somhlolo National Stadium, where we were joined by His Majesty King Mswati III. This brings us immense joy—joy that is difficult to fully express in words,” said the bishop.
Bishop Mkhontfo added that being joined by Their Majesties at such significant gatherings was something they do not take lightly.
“It carries deep meaning and symbolises unity, blessings, and prosperity for the Kingdom of Eswatini.
As we reflect on His Majesty’s 40 years on the throne, words alone cannot fully capture the extent of his contributions to the nation. Under his leadership, we have witnessed remarkable development, with modern road infrastructure, significant buildings, and national progress that has transformed the country’s landscape,” he said.
The bishop said they were grateful and hopeful that His Majesty the King may continue to lead for many more years, 40 more years to be precise. He said if God grants him long life, emaSwati as a nation will continue to benefit from his leadership and vision.
“There are many achievements we can point to. For example, the introduction of elderly grants has brought dignity and support to our senior citizens, allowing them to sustain themselves. Additionally, the Free Primary Education (FPE) programme has opened doors for countless children who previously could not afford schooling, ensuring that every liSwati child has access to education. These are truly transformative initiatives that we must never take for granted,” he said
Above all, Bishop Mkhontfo said, they cherished the peace that prevails in the country. While many nations face conflict and instability, he noted that Eswatini remains peaceful. This unity and harmony, he said, are strengthened through national gatherings, spiritual observances, and moments like these, where emaSwati come together as one people under God.
The bishop said as a nation, emaSwati must continue to express gratitude and appreciation for these blessings and for the leadership of His Majesty the King that has guided the Kingdom of Eswatini over the past four decades.
