MBABANE – The Youth Forever Charity Club will host a powerful youth mental health awareness dialogue titled “From Roots to Realization”, aimed at confronting mental health stigma and encouraging open conversations on emotional healing, trauma recovery, and personal growth among young people.

The event is scheduled for 18 April 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), Kwaluseni Campus, Science Lecture Theatre 2, and is expected to bring together youth from different backgrounds in a safe and reflective space for dialogue and healing.

Under the theme “From Roots to Realization,” the session seeks to help young people reflect on their past experiences, understand how childhood environments influence present emotional wellbeing, and explore pathways toward healing, resilience, and personal transformation.

The initiative is grounded in the belief that mental health matters at every stage of life, while support systems are essential in helping young people navigate emotional struggles. It further creates space for youth to openly discuss experiences that are often silenced, including growing up in abusive homesteads, childhood sexual abuse, parental alienation, and unstable family environments, and how these continue to affect young adults today.

Founder Angel Zubuko emphasised that the theme carries deep emotional and healing significance, saying:

“The theme: From Roots to Realization is taking us back to our roots, our past, the inner kids in us to heal those wounds, to learn about our past traumas and how they affect our lives presently and in the future. We are speaking about growing up in abusive homesteads, victims of rape from childhood, parental alienation, growing up in unstable families and how it has affected young adults’ present and future—and finding solutions to heal those wounds and move past them for a brighter future.”

Zubuko noted that the aim of the session is not only to raise awareness on mental health, but also to create a safe and supportive environment where young people can begin their healing journey. She added that the dialogue is intended to help youth process past experiences, understand how trauma shapes their present lives, and explore practical ways of moving forward with strength, hope, and emotional resilience.

The programme will be hosted by Bianca Stewart, a public speaker and entrepreneur, who will facilitate discussions throughout the session.

A key panel discussion will feature Siphiwo Lushaba, an award-winning entrepreneur, who will share insights on resilience, discipline, and overcoming adversity.

Guest speakers include Gcinisizwe Buthelezi, also known as “Nurse WeKhantri,” a multi-award-winning fashion enthusiast and digital creator; Pamela Simelane, a psychology professional focusing on mental health awareness and emotional wellbeing; and Mnqobi Mamba, SRC President, who will speak on youth leadership and student mental health advocacy.

The event will also feature spoken word and creative performances by Eleanor the Poet and Celumusa Mkhaliphi, adding an expressive and artistic healing dimension to the programme.

The event is open to all young people who identify as youth, with free entry to ensure accessibility and inclusion. Snacks will be provided to create a welcoming and supportive environment for participants.

The Youth Forever Charity Club encouraged young people to attend in large numbers, highlighting that the session is designed to break stigma, promote understanding, and strengthen youth mental health awareness across communities.

“From Roots to Realization” is expected to serve as a transformative youth platform for healing, awareness, and empowerment, encouraging young people to confront their past and step confidently into a healthier and more hopeful future.
