MBABANE- Speaker of the House of Assembly Jabulani Mabuza has called on emaSwati to take pride in the country’s historic national event and unite in the celebrations.
The Speaker made the call on April 22, 2026, during debate on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) recommendations, where he emphasised the importance of national unity and collective participation.
He encouraged citizens from all corners of the Kingdom to attend the upcoming double celebration scheduled for April 24, 2026, at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The day marks a significant milestone for the country, commemorating the 58th birthday of His Majesty King Mswati III alongside the 40th anniversary of his coronation, also known as the Ruby Jubilee. The occasion has been declared a public holiday and is expected to attract thousands of emaSwati, as well as regional and international guests.
Government has extended an open invitation to all citizens, residents and friends of the Kingdom to join the celebrations in a spirit of unity and national pride. Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe has called on emaSwati to turn out in large numbers to honour His Majesty’s four decades of leadership.
Extensive logistical arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth access to the venue. Transport will be provided through various tinkhundla, with buses collecting people from designated points across the country. Gates at the stadium are expected to open at 7:00am, and entry will be free for all attendees.
Authorities have also confirmed that security preparations, infrastructure upgrades and accommodation plans are in place to cater for the anticipated influx of visitors, including dignitaries from the region.
Meanwhile, Ludzidzini Indvuna Themba Ginindza has asked mourning widows to temporarily stop wearing mourning attire during the celebrations as a sign of respect. He explained that this is only for the celebration period, and widows will return to their mourning dress afterwards, in line with the period arranged by their families, while continuing to observe other cultural practices.
Speaker stressed that the historic celebration presents an opportunity for emaSwati to come together, reflect on the nation’s journey and proudly celebrate its unity, culture and progress.
