KING POSTPONES INGWENYAMA CUP FINALS TO MAY 10

LOZITHA – His Majesty King Mswati III, through Ingwenyama Cup Chairman, His Royal Highness Prince Nhlangabeza, has announced the postponement of Ingwenyama Cup finals to May 10, 2026.

The ‘Intintile’, as this year’s slogan states, finals had been initially scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Somhlolo National Stadium. The prince did not state the reasons behind the rescheduling of the finals by Their Majesties.

“We have been instructed by His Majesty King Mswati III to announce that the Ingwenyama Cup finals scheduled for May 3, have now been postponed to May 10, 2026,” said the prince.

His Royal Highness also announced that it is expected that His Majesty the King blesses teams to compete in the finals with new kits during the course of next week.

In the main event, Nsingizini Hotspurs will clash against two-time champions in correctional side Green Mamba in a historic showdown while Manzini Wanderers will take on Young Buffaloes in the Women’s category for the curtain raiser.

The fun-filled day will also see regional champions, Louis XIV being crowned after defeating Nsingizini Hotspurs 4-0 after penalties, with the game ending in a goalless statement. Social games will form part of the fun when princes/chiefs take on Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) and CEOs.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nkosilenhle ‘Makawosi’ Masuku highlighted that it would be E50 per person to watch the games. He also announced that over 7 500 tickets would be availed for the finals. He said the reason the number of tickets have increased this year was due to the availability of temporary stands on no man’s land.

Those who had excelled on the Ingwenyama Cup Culture category will also be awarded their prizes on the day.
