LAMGABHI – Men from Lamgabhi have taken an active role in strengthening family health during Day 2 of the Men’s Involvement Dialogue on Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH&N), held in partnership with World Vision Eswatini.
The dialogue brought together community members to discuss the important role men play in supporting the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, and children. The session focused on building knowledge, encouraging open conversations, and promoting responsible behaviour within families. It forms part of ongoing community-based efforts to improve health outcomes and reduce preventable challenges affecting families.
“This initiative is helping men understand their role in protecting and supporting their families,” said one facilitator during the session.
Facilitators explained that the discussions covered key issues such as mental health, responsible fatherhood, gender-based violence prevention, and safe health practices including condom use. They said addressing these topics helps break stigma and encourages men to seek support when needed. The programme also aligns with national efforts to strengthen community health systems and promote shared responsibility in caregiving.
The facilitators said the dialogue strengthens men’s understanding of MNCH&N and encourages them to take an active role in decision-making at household level. They added that engaging men is key to improving maternal and child health outcomes.
Participants shared that the dialogue is creating a safe space for men to speak openly and learn from each other. Many said they are gaining practical knowledge that will improve how they support their families at home and contribute positively to their communities.
The programme is already making a positive impact by promoting healthier relationships, improving communication, and encouraging shared responsibility in family care, which supports stronger and more resilient households.
As more communities continue to host similar dialogues, stakeholders remain confident that increased male involvement will contribute to stronger families, reduced health risks, and healthier communities across the country.
