EZULWINI— Excitement and pride filled Ezulwini as the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Hon. Muzi Nzima, officially opened the 2026 Africa Region V Golf Championships at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, where young golfers from nine countries gathered not just to compete, but to chase dreams and build lasting connections.
The championship, which started on May 05, 2026 and will conclude on May 09, 2026, has brought together rising amateur talent from across Southern Africa. For many of the young players, the tournament represents more than a competition—it is a rare opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage and gain valuable experience.
Among the participants are first-time competitors who expressed excitement at representing their countries and interacting with fellow golfers from different cultural backgrounds. The atmosphere at the course reflects unity, with players encouraging one another and sharing stories beyond the fairways.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Hon. Nzima emphasised the role of sport in transforming lives, particularly for young people. He noted that platforms such as the Region 5 Championships give youth a sense of purpose, discipline and hope for a brighter future.
Parents, coaches and supporters were also present, cheering on the players and celebrating their journeys. For many families, seeing their children compete at this level is a moment of pride and motivation to continue supporting their ambitions.
Local communities are equally benefiting, with the event drawing visitors and creating a vibrant atmosphere in Ezulwini. Small businesses and hospitality services are experiencing increased activity as the region welcomes guests from across Southern Africa.
As the tournament continues, the focus remains not only on winning but on growth, friendship and the shared love of the game—reminding all involved that sport has the power to unite and uplift.
