ZOMBODZE – The Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with kiosk operators and Community Water Committee chairpersons of Zombodze Emuva in the Shiselweni Region on Thursday May 8, 2026. This cooperation aimed at ensuring reliable and affordable water supply services within the community.
The agreement was signed as part of ongoing efforts to improve water governance and community participation under the Eswatini Water Supply and Sanitation Access Project, which is currently nearing completion in the Shiselweni Region. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes a framework that will regulate cooperation and define the working relationship between EWSC, community representatives and kiosk operators responsible for distributing water within the area.
According to the agreement, the partnership seeks to ensure the provision of safe, reliable and affordable water services while promoting accountability and efficient management of water kiosks serving local households. The arrangement is also expected to improve coordination between stakeholders and strengthen community involvement in the management of water resources.
The signing marks an important milestone in the implementation of the Eswatini Water Supply and Sanitation Access Project, which has been working to expand access to clean water and sanitation services in underserved communities across the region. The project forms part of broader national efforts to improve living conditions, public health and sustainable access to essential services.
Community leaders and kiosk operators welcomed the agreement, describing it as an important step towards improving service delivery and ensuring that residents continue to benefit from a stable water supply system.
