MBABANE– Eswatini continues to position itself as an attractive destination for international investment as European Members of Parliament, European Union (EU) representatives and Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) delegates tour EU-supported projects in Mbabane on Wednesday.
The delegates tour the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) and the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) Head Offices, where they receive insight into investment facilitation services, key economic sectors and locally produced goods aimed at expanding Eswatini’s presence in international markets.
Speaking during the visit, EIPA Chief Executive Officer Sibani Mngomezulu describes Eswatini as a competitive nation with growing investment opportunities supported by His Majesty’s vision for economic growth and development.
Mngomezulu says the country continues to create a business-friendly environment that attracts both local and foreign investors.
“We are a small country with a population of about 1.2 million people, but we have a strong export market and enormous potential for growth,” he says.
He further explains that through the partnership between EIPA and the EU, local businesses are gaining access to international markets and exhibitions.
“Through the assistance of the EU, we have secured services that are accessible in international countries. Products made here in Eswatini are now being exhibited in international forums such as Paris because they meet the required entry standards,” says Mngomezulu.
European Union Ambassador Karsten Mecklenburg also highlights the importance of strengthening trade relations between Eswatini and global markets. He says the EU remains committed to supporting Eswatini through investment promotion, trade facilitation and partnerships that improve the ease of doing business.
“We are working together to strengthen exports and imports between Eswatini and international markets while creating opportunities for local producers to compete globally,” says Mecklenburg.
He adds that the collaboration between the EU and EIPA continues to play a significant role in promoting sustainable economic development, supporting local industries and opening doors for Eswatini-made products in international markets.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts under the EU,Eswatini partnership to enhance trade, investment and economic cooperation in the Kingdom.
