MBABANE – The Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC) has intensified efforts to tackle youth unemployment by equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills through a business development workshop held at the National Library in Mbabane.
The workshop brought together young people from different communities to learn practical business skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship aimed at helping them create sustainable livelihoods through self employment.
Speaking during the training, facilitators emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship as a viable solution to the country’s growing unemployment challenge. Participants were guided on how to identify business opportunities, develop business plans, manage finances, and build sustainable enterprises.
The youth were also equipped with skills on how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly and effectively when preparing curriculum vitae (CVs), searching for employment opportunities, and improving job applications. Facilitators shared practical tips on how AI tools can assist job seekers in creating professional CVs, tailoring applications to specific vacancies, and preparing for interviews.
Participants were further trained on strategies for successfully navigating the job market and improving their chances of securing employment. Interactive sessions allowed attendees to engage directly with facilitators, ask questions, and seek clarity on issues affecting their career development and future prospects.
The initiative forms part of ENYC’s broader mandate to empower young people through entrepreneurship, innovation, and skills development programmes designed to improve their socio economic wellbeing.
Youth attending the workshop welcomed the initiative, saying it provided valuable knowledge that could help them become job creators rather than job seekers while also strengthening their employability skills.
The workshop also encouraged participants to embrace innovation, resilience, and a positive entrepreneurial mindset, qualities viewed as essential for succeeding in today’s competitive economic environment.
As Eswatini continues to grapple with high youth unemployment, stakeholders believe entrepreneurship development remains one of the key pathways to economic empowerment and job creation for the country’s young population.
