MBABANE – Hope and anticipation filled the air this week as Indian education representative Tanu Saxena arrived in Eswatini, marking the start of a highly anticipated outreach programme aimed at opening international study pathways for local students.
Saxena touched down at King Mswati III International Airport, where she was warmly received by representatives from Lonyandza Consultancy, in a reception that highlighted growing educational ties between Eswatini and India.
Her arrival forms part of a coordinated engagement programme running from June 4 to June 12, designed to connect emaSwati students with scholarship opportunities at Indian universities including Arka Jain University, Kalinga University, MVM Institute and Jain University. The initiative offers selected students partial scholarships and travel support, including flight arrangements for successful applicants.
For many young people and parents who gathered news of her visit, Saxena’s arrival represents more than a formal engagement it signals possibility. With rising demand for international education and limited local access to funded study options abroad, the programme is being viewed as a practical bridge between ambition and opportunity.
Her first official engagement is scheduled for today at Lusoti High School in the Lubombo Region at 10:00am, where students are expected to receive direct information on application procedures, scholarship requirements and life as an international student in India.
Beyond school visits, Saxena is also expected to hold one on one consultations with parents and learners across the country’s four regions, offering personalised guidance to families navigating study abroad decisions.
The programme also carries special significance for students already preparing to travel in August to begin studies in India, as preparatory sessions will focus on cultural adjustment, academic readiness and student wellbeing in a new environment.
As excitement builds across school corridors and communities, the visit is being seen as a rare chance for many young emaSwati to step closer to global classrooms and future careers shaped beyond borders.
