MGAZINI – Community safety efforts at Mveshe Royal Kraal have received a welcome boost following the donation of 20 rechargeable patrol torches worth E10 000 by Montigny Investments, a gesture aimed at strengthening local crime prevention initiatives.
The torches were officially handed over to the Mveshe community under Chief Sicunusa on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Mveshe Royal Kraal in Mgazini. The donation comes in response to a request made by community leaders seeking support for volunteer community police officers who conduct night patrols to help keep residents and property safe.
The initiative highlights the important role that partnerships between communities and the private sector can play in promoting safety and improving the quality of life for citizens.
A few weeks ago, Mveshe Indvuna Sonnyboy Khumalo approached Montigny Investments with a request for patrol torches to assist community police officers in carrying out their duties more effectively during night patrols. Recognising the value of community-led security initiatives, the company pledged its support and successfully fulfilled the request.
The rechargeable torches are expected to improve visibility during patrol operations, enabling community police officers to monitor their areas more effectively and respond to potential security concerns with greater confidence.
Beyond enhancing security, the donation demonstrates Montigny’s ongoing commitment to supporting community development and responding to the practical needs of the communities in which it operates.
