MATSAPHA– The excitement surrounding the 33rd edition of the Swazi Rally has shifted into a higher gear following the unveiling of a Suzuki GSX-8S motorcycle valued at E180 000 as this year’s grand prize.

The motorcycle was officially revealed during a special ceremony held at Xtreme Trading in Matsapha by founder and owner of Swazi Rally Carlos Paiva and swazi rally team with Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Honourable Bongani Nzima attending the event.

The grand prize reveal forms part of preparations for the annual motorsport gathering, which is scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 August 2026 at Riders Ranch. During the ceremony, Nzima announced Tlaki S Makua as the grand prize winner of the Suzuki GSX-800S motorcycle following the who guessed right Swazi Rally 2026 raffle draw.

The announcement marked a major highlight of the unveiling, with Makua walking away with the high-performance motorcycle as anticipation continues to build ahead of this year’s rally. Speaking during the reveal, Nzima said the prize represented more than just a motorcycle, describing it as a symbol of achievement, adventure and progress. “This prize represents more than just a bike; it symbolises achievement, adventure and the spirit of progress that we celebrate through the Swazi Rally,” he said.

The Minister said the grand prize reflected the organisers’ efforts to reward commitment while encouraging participants to embrace the spirit of adventure associated with the event.

He also highlighted the Swazi Rally’s contribution beyond motorsport, saying the event has grown into an important part of Eswatini’s entertainment, tourism and cultural calendar. “For over three decades, the Swazi Rally has been more than just a motorsport event but a vibrant part of our national identity, bringing people together and boosting our economy through tourism and local business opportunities,” Nzima said.

According to the Minister, the rally has created opportunities for entrepreneurs and local artists while inspiring young people to pursue their interests and develop their talents.

He thanked the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and the wider community for supporting the event over the years and helping maintain its position as one of the country’s major motorsport gatherings.

As preparations continue, the Suzuki GSX-800S and the announcement of the grand prize winner are expected to remain key talking points as riders and spectators look forward to the Swazi Rally 2026 festivities.
