MBABANE – The humanitarian work of the Prince Sicalo Foundation has reached a milestone, with publicly recorded interventions indicating that the organisation has channelled at least E10 million worth of assistance to vulnerable emaSwati over the past two years.
The foundation, under the patronage of HRH Prince Sicalo Nkopolo Dlamini, has emerged as one of the prominent community support initiatives in Eswatini, providing relief to elderly people, vulnerable households, community groups and young people through food assistance, household items, infrastructure projects and development programmes.
The estimated E10 million-plus contribution is based on publicly reported interventions, including a major community outreach programme linked to the foundation’s activities where assistance was valued at approximately E10.753 million.
The foundation’s humanitarian programmes have focused largely on responding to the daily struggles faced by disadvantaged communities, especially during periods of economic pressure and rising living costs.
Among its notable interventions was the distribution of food parcels, mattresses and other basic necessities to vulnerable residents, including elderly citizens.
The foundation has also reached thousands of households through its outreach programmes. In previous community engagements, Prince Sicalo Foundation provided food parcels and other support to more than 3 000 residents, demonstrating its continued focus on grassroots assistance.
Beyond food relief, the foundation has expanded its support to include blankets, toiletries, clothing, sports kits, community projects and other forms of assistance aimed at improving the wellbeing of beneficiaries.
Touching lives beyond food parcels
Observers of the foundation’s work say its contribution goes beyond short-term relief, with some projects aimed at creating lasting community benefits.
The foundation has supported initiatives involving social development, including community facilities and empowerment programmes. One of the reported projects involved the handover of a newly built soup kitchen and pre-school facility at Mpolonjeni.
Through these interventions, Prince Sicalo Foundation has positioned itself as a key partner in complementing community development efforts by extending assistance to areas where vulnerable families require immediate support.
Thousands reached across communities
The foundation’s outreach model has been characterised by direct engagement with communities, where beneficiaries receive assistance based on identified needs.
Its programmes have included support for elderly people, families facing hardship and community members requiring basic household necessities.
The continued expansion of these programmes has placed Prince Sicalo among members of the Royal Family who have actively engaged in humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving the lives of emaSwati.
A growing legacy of giving
While the foundation has not publicly released a consolidated audited financial report detailing all donations made during the past two years, available records indicate that its publicly documented interventions have already surpassed the E10 million mark.
The figure is therefore considered a minimum publicly traceable value, with the actual contribution potentially higher when including donations and projects whose monetary values have not been disclosed.
As the foundation continues its outreach programmes, Prince Sicalo’s humanitarian efforts have become associated with a message of service, compassion and community support.
