MBABANE – Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has warned newly appointed Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) Managing Director (MD) Thulani Fakudze, not to abuse his new office powers and travel without necessity.
Just before announcing the new MD on June 4, 2026 at the ICT Ministry Conference Room, Maziya warned him to always put the interests of the people he served ahead of everything.
She noted further that as they sought to strengthen their institutions, it was important that they promoted a culture of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. These values, she said, are the foundation of any successful organisation and are essential for building public trust.
“The reason for introducing these structures and procedures is simple: we are dealing with serious business matters. The stringent requirements and governance systems are there to ensure transparency, accountability, and to avoid any misunderstandings. Every process must be properly followed because institutions are built on credibility and good governance,” she said.
Maziya said it was imparative that they also thought about how to create a culture that contributes to the growth and sustainability of organisations.
She noted that government resources were limited, and institutions that were able to generate value and support national development should be encouraged and strengthened. She said they needed institutions that are productive, well-managed, and capable of growing while creating opportunities for others.
“At the same time, we must avoid wasteful expenditure. Travelling or undertaking activities that do not add value to the organisation is not responsible. Every decision should be guided by the question: does this benefit the institution and the people it serves?”
She called for respect at all times for their institutions and putting their interests first. By doing so, she said, they will build stronger organisations, strengthen public confidence, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Minister Maziya finally encouraged all to remain committed to these principles and to work together in building institutions that are accountable, efficient, and sustainable for future generations.
