MBABANE– NATICC staff have been equipped with practical financial management skills to help them make informed money decisions, manage debt responsibly, save consistently and plan for long-term financial security.

The skills were imparted during a Financial Literacy and Financial Management training facilitated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), aimed at strengthening staff members’ understanding of effective money management and financial planning.

The training was led by Consumer Education and Financial Inclusion Specialists Ms Zandile Dlamini and Mr Mbuso Gumedze, who guided staff through practical approaches to managing income, controlling expenditure and developing healthier financial habits.

A key focus of the training was cash-flow management, with staff encouraged to understand where their money comes from and where it goes. Participants were advised to develop realistic budgets, distinguish between needs and wants, manage fixed and variable expenses and avoid impulsive spending.

The facilitators also unpacked the five key aspects of budgeting, emphasising the importance of knowing total income, accounting for expenses and planning expenditure before spending.

Beyond budgeting, the training exposed staff to saving options, investment principles and retirement planning, including the role of annuities in securing financial stability in later years.

Responsible debt management was also discussed, with participants encouraged to understand their financial obligations and their rights under the Consumer Credit Act, 2016.

The training emphasised that financial wellbeing extends beyond earning an income, requiring individuals to protect, manage and grow their resources while preparing for future needs.

Through the training, NATICC staff gained practical knowledge that can help them make sound financial decisions, strengthen their saving habits, manage debt and work towards greater financial security.

The initiative highlights the importance of financial literacy in empowering employees to take greater control of their finances and build a more secure financial future.
