MPISI FARM– Eswatini Nazarene Health Institution (ENHI) has made history by sending an Imbali Regiment to this year’s Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony for the first time since the institution was established.
ENHI Chief Executive Officer Mazwi Mavuso explained that the institution’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting and embracing Eswatini’s cultural traditions while giving its staff an opportunity to take part in one of the country’s most significant cultural events.
Mavuso said the decision to send the Imbali Regiment marks a new chapter for the health institution, as it joins other organisations and institutions that participate in the annual ceremony. He said the participation also demonstrates that cultural activities can create opportunities for institutions to connect with the communities they serve beyond their usual roles.
“We are participating this year by sending our Imbali Regiment for the first time in our history,” Mavuso said. While the institution is participating in the cultural aspect of the ceremony, Mavuso said ENHI has not lost sight of its responsibility to provide healthcare support during the event.
He explained that the institution’s medical team is on the ground as usual to provide assistance to Imbali and other people who may require medical attention during the proceedings.The presence of the medical team is part of ENHI’s continued commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of participants throughout the ceremony.
Mavuso said having healthcare personnel available is important, particularly during a large gathering where thousands of people come together over several days. The team is expected to respond to health concerns that may arise and provide the necessary assistance to those in need.
ENHI’s participation therefore combines cultural involvement with its core responsibility of promoting health and providing medical care.The institution’s first Imbali Regiment joins the thousands of maidens participating in Umhlanga 2026, adding a new dimension to ENHI’s involvement in the annual cultural ceremony.
Through the participation, ENHI is contributing to the celebration of Eswatini’s cultural heritage while continuing to support the health needs of those attending the event.
