LUDZIDZINI — Her Royal Highness Princess Buhlebetive turned the Umhlanga Main Day arena into a stage of royal celebration yesterday when she delivered a captivating kugiya, a solo dance , at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence Arena.
Dancing before Their Majesties, members of the royal family and thousands of spectators, the Princess unveiled her latest song, “Mashumi Lamane Emiyaka Ingwenyama Ihleti Esihlawleni,” for the first time during the colourful cultural celebration.
The performance became one of the memorable entertainment moments of the day as Princess Buhlebetive combined traditional movement, music and royal tribute in celebrating His Majesty King Mswati III’s 40 years on the throne.
The song, which features rising Swazi artist Young Zesh, marks the Princess’ second musical collaboration with the artist following the widely popular “Giya” song.
“Giya” has enjoyed significant attention on TikTok, with its sound being widely used by followers in dance videos and other creative entertainment content, further placing Princess Buhlebetive’s musical work in the spotlight.
Her latest offering carries a strong royal message, with its title translating to “Forty years, the Lion has sat on the throne.” Through the song, the Princess pays tribute to the King’s four decades of leadership while highlighting the significance of the Ruby Jubilee celebrations.
During her kugiya, Princess Buhlebetive danced with confidence and energy, drawing the attention of the arena as the performance unfolded against the backdrop of the historic Umhlanga celebration.
