PIGGS PEAK – The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development joined the rest of the country in commemorating Spring Day today, using the occasion to highlight the importance of environmental responsibility in achieving sustainable economic growth and long-term national development.
Spring Day marks the arrival of a new season, traditionally associated with renewal, growth and fresh beginnings. For the Ministry, however, the occasion also provided an opportunity to reflect on the critical relationship between a healthy environment and the country’s economic and social development.
The Ministry emphasised that economic development cannot be separated from environmental sustainability, as natural resources and a healthy environment play an important role in supporting livelihoods, strengthening communities and creating opportunities for future generations.
As the institution responsible for economic planning and development, the Ministry continues to advocate for approaches that promote economic progress while ensuring that environmental considerations are incorporated into development planning.
A sustainable economy requires careful management of natural resources, responsible development practices and policies that consider the needs of both present and future generations.
