MBABANE — The search for Eswatini’s next gospel stars has already struck a chord, with more than 200 audition videos reportedly submitted just a day after the Eswatini Praise Talent Search opened.
Organiser Sipho “BigFish” Makhabane said the response showed strong interest in the talent search, with several videos already reaching his phone for review.
BigFish said organisers had been waiting for the conclusion of Umhlanga before officially opening the search.
With the cultural ceremony now over, aspiring singers have been invited to submit their videos and compete for an opportunity to showcase their talent on a national platform.
The response came quickly, with more than 200 videos confirmed within the first day of submissions.
BigFish said he personally reviewed a number of the entries on his phone, giving him an early glimpse of the talent emerging from different parts of the country.
Despite the strong response, BigFish stressed that contestants must follow the audition requirements correctly.
Participants must record themselves using a phone held in landscape placement and submit a 60-second video of themselves singing.
Contestants are required to sing without keyboards, instruments or other musical accompaniment.
BigFish said the purpose was to allow the organisers to hear the contestant’s natural voice and assess their vocal ability.
The early response signals growing interest in the search, which aims to uncover fresh gospel talent from across Eswatini.
For aspiring contestants, the message is simple: follow the rules, press record and let the voice do the talking.
