PIGGS PEAK – As learners at Piggs Peak Central High School begin the final term of the 2026 academic year, the school has called on parents to strengthen their support for pupils as they face the final stretch of their studies.
Speaking during the school’s opening prayer, Deputy Headteacher Hlobisile Dlamini urged parents to support learners not only financially, but also physically, mentally and holistically, saying a supportive home environment can play an important role in learners’ academic and personal development.
Dlamini said the partnership between parents and teachers is essential in creating an environment where pupils feel supported and are able to focus on their studies.
She noted that when learners receive the support they need at home, it also helps teachers build and maintain positive teacher-student relationships at school.
“Parents have a role to play in supporting their children in every way possible,” Dlamini said, emphasising that financial assistance alone is not enough, as learners also need emotional, mental and physical support.
Piggs Peak Central High School has approximately 795 pupils enrolled for the 2026 academic year, making the cooperation between the school, parents and learners particularly important as the institution enters its final academic term.
The opening prayer provided an opportunity for the school community to reflect, seek guidance and prepare mentally for the challenges ahead. With examinations and other academic demands approaching, the prayer also served as a reminder to learners to remain focused and disciplined.
Meanwhile, the school has welcomed the government’s delivery of food for learners, which is expected to contribute towards their wellbeing during the term.
The provision of meals comes as the school looks forward to a productive final term, with learners encouraged to make the most of the remaining academic weeks.
For the pupils, the final term represents the last push towards completing the 2026 academic year. For teachers and parents, it is a period that requires renewed cooperation to ensure learners remain motivated, supported and focused.
As the prayer brought the school community together at the beginning of the term, the message was clear: academic success is not the responsibility of learners alone, but a shared effort involving the school, parents and the wider community.
