EZULWINI — Denim is getting a new voice.
As the countdown begins to the Eswatini Clothing & Apparel Zone, local designers are preparing to turn fabric, creativity and personal identity into fashion statements when the showcase takes over Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini on September 25 and 26, 2026.
The showcase forms part of the Swazi Boy Entertainment 20th Anniversary Celebration, bringing together local clothing brands and designers for a fashion experience designed to put Eswatini’s creative talent in the spotlight.
Among the brands set to showcase their work are Flow Wearz Clothing Brand, Crochet by Selu, Guzzani, Black Noir and Degree, each bringing its own interpretation of style and creativity to the fashion platform.
For Zikode Zwane, founder and director of Flow Wearz Clothing Brand, the showcase is an opportunity to tell stories through clothing while representing home on a bigger stage.
“The collection I’ll be showcasing is inspired by identity, culture and the power of self-expression through denim,” Zwane said.
“I wanted to take something familiar and everyday and transform it into something bold, meaningful and contemporary.”
The designer’s collection explores denim, upcycling, bold prints, raw edges and streetwear influences, combining familiar elements with a contemporary edge.
For Zwane, however, denim is not simply a material used to make clothes.
“I don’t just see denim as a fabric. I see it as a canvas where I can tell stories and create something unique,” he said.
That storytelling approach is also at the heart of what Zwane believes makes Flow Wearz different, with denim being used as a vehicle for identity and self-expression.
Being part of the Eswatini Clothing & Apparel Zone, he said, carries a deeper meaning because it allows local designers to represent the Kingdom through fashion.
“It gives me an opportunity to represent home through fashion. It is a platform where local designers and brands can showcase our creativity, talent and unique identity,” Zwane said.
He believes the showcase can also help challenge perceptions about locally produced fashion by demonstrating that designs made in Eswatini can compete on bigger platforms.
Beyond the September showcase, Zwane has his sights set beyond the Kingdom.
His ambition is to build Flow Wearz into a strong African fashion brand that represents Eswatini wherever it goes, while creating opportunities to compete, collaborate and make an impact on regional and international platforms.
With the fashion countdown officially underway, the Eswatini Clothing & Apparel Zone is set to prove that local fashion is not simply about what people wear — it is about who they are, where they come from and the stories they choose to tell.
