PIGG’S PEAK– Teachers have been urged to believe in every learner and continue encouraging them, regardless of their academic performance, as Hlanganani Pre-Primary School held its Speech and Prize Giving Day to celebrate learners’ achievements and talents.
The message was delivered by Dr Siphiwe Dludlu, Headteacher of Mhlatane High School, who was the guest speaker at the event. Dr Dludlu congratulated learners who received prizes and encouraged them to continue working hard and aiming high.
Addressing teachers, Dr Dludlu emphasised the importance of patience, dedication and encouragement in helping children reach their potential.
“Teachers should never write off a child. Instead, always be there and encourage them,” Dr Dludlu said.
She further encouraged teachers to continue doing their work diligently, stressing that educators have an important responsibility in shaping the lives and future of learners.
Dr Dludlu also called on teachers to support the Hlanganani Pre-Primary School headteacher, who is still relatively new in the position, as the school works towards achieving positive results and taking the institution to greater heights.
She said teamwork among teachers and school leadership was important in creating an environment where learners could thrive.
The Speech and Prize Giving Day brought together learners, teachers, parents and guests as the school recognised pupils who had performed well and participated in various activities during the school year.
The occasion also gave learners an opportunity to showcase their talents and confidence in front of their parents, with performances forming part of the celebrations.
For the young learners, receiving prizes served as recognition of their efforts while also motivating them to continue working hard. The event demonstrated that achievement at an early age can be celebrated not only through academic performance but also through participation, creativity, confidence and talent.
Parents also played an important role in the occasion by attending the event and witnessing their children being recognised for their efforts.
Dr Dludlu’s message placed emphasis on the role of adults in a child’s development, particularly the need for teachers to identify potential rather than focus only on areas where a learner may be struggling.
The event therefore served a dual purpose: celebrating learners who had excelled while encouraging teachers and parents to continue supporting every child.
As Hlanganani Pre-Primary School continues its work in laying the educational foundation for young learners, the message from Dr Dludlu was that every child deserves an opportunity to learn, improve and discover their abilities.
The school’s leadership, teachers and parents were encouraged to work together to nurture the learners and help Hlanganani continue progressing towards greater achievements.
