MBABANE — Just when it seemed there was no room left on Zee Nxumalo’s growing list of achievements, the 23-year-old amapiano star has added another major name to her portfolio,McDonald’s.

Nxumalo is the latest familiar face to feature in a McDonald’s campaign, bringing her fashion-forward image and playful personality to the fast-food giant’s latest McWrap advertisement.

The campaign sees the young star switching up her looks as she promotes four different McWrap flavours, showing yet another side of an artist whose career is increasingly stretching beyond music.

In a post shared on her social media platforms, Nxumalo wrote: “Hurry up x4, four McWrap flavours, so I had to switch up the look for each one. Order your favourite on the McDonald’s App too.”

But it was another social media post that caught attention.

Sharing the advertisement, Nxumalo jokingly wrote: “Have you seen our McDonald’s advert? The face of McDonald’s is exhausted.”

The playful remark comes as the star continues to stack up major milestones, making the McDonald’s campaign another addition to a year that has seen her become a prominent name in entertainment, fashion, beauty and commercial campaigns

For Nxumalo, the McDonald’s campaign is more than another advert. It is evidence of how far her public profile has expanded since breaking into the amapiano scene.

The young star recently became the face of NIVEA Luminous630 Skin Glow, a partnership centred on confidence, self-expression and embracing one’s glow.

She also landed a coveted Glamour South Africa cover, adding fashion and lifestyle media to an already growing list of career highlights.

Her journey has seen her work with major brands while continuing to build her identity as an artist.

The McDonald’s campaign now places her alongside one of the world’s most recognisable fast-food brands, with the advertisement using her versatility and fashion sense to showcase the four McWrap flavours.

The campaign also demonstrates the commercial appeal Nxumalo has developed as her music career has grown.

Born Zandile Nxumalo on 6 January 2003, the artist was born in Eswatini before moving with her family to Johannesburg, where she grew up in Alexandra.

Her musical journey began at a young age before she found her footing in amapiano.

Nxumalo released her debut EP, KwaNxumalo, in 2022, before gaining wider attention through collaborations that helped establish her name within the genre.

One of her major breakthroughs came with “Funk 55”, a collaboration with Shakes & Les, DBN Gogo, Ceeka RSA and Chley. The song became a major streaming success and helped push Nxumalo further into the spotlight.

She has since continued releasing music and collaborating with established names in the South African music scene, including Pabi Cooper, 031Choppa and Dlala Thukzin.

Her rise has also seen her become increasingly visible outside music.

From beauty campaigns with NIVEA to fashion pages through Glamour and now a McDonald’s campaign, Nxumalo has become a recognisable figure for brands seeking to connect with a young, fashion-conscious audience.

The McDonald’s campaign arrives shortly after another significant chapter in Nxumalo’s career.

As the face of NIVEA Luminous630 Skin Glow, she has spoken about the importance of confidence and believing in oneself.

“Stay confident in your skin because that allows you to go even further,” she said.

That message appears to mirror the trajectory of her own career.

At only 23, Nxumalo has moved from being known primarily for her music to becoming a face recognised across entertainment, beauty, fashion and advertising.

And she is not slowing down.

The amapiano star is also set to bring her music to Eswatini Farmers Market 2026 at Malkerns Country Club, where she will headline the event on 10 October 2026.

The appearance will give local fans an opportunity to see the artist behind the campaigns return to the stage in a celebration of fashion, arts, food and lifestyle.

With McDonald’s now joining the list, Nxumalo’s growing brand portfolio reflects the increasing space she occupies in popular culture.

For an artist who is only 23, the journey from the amapiano stage to NIVEA, Glamour South Africa and McDonald’s tells a story of a young entertainer whose influence is no longer confined to the music industry.

And judging by her own joke that “the face of McDonald’s is exhausted”, even Zee Nxumalo knows the glow-up is becoming a full-time job.

At this rate, the real question may not be what brand comes next, but how many more campaigns the 23-year-old can squeeze into her already busy glow era.
