MBABANE – A legendary voice in broadcasting is taking on a new challenge as veteran broadcaster and media executive Wilson B. Nkosi steps into the role of Chairman of the newly constituted Board of Directors of Sakha Live FM.
Nkosi’s appointment, effective 1 October 2026, marks a major milestone for the Kingdom’s newest licensed Free-to-Air commercial radio station as it moves from licensing into corporate governance, operational readiness and commercial development.
For a broadcaster whose career spans four decades, the new role brings another significant chapter to a journey that has helped shape the region’s media landscape.
Nkosi was part of the pioneering team of broadcasters at Radio Metro in 1986, establishing himself as one of South Africa’s recognisable broadcasting voices. His influence, however, extends beyond the microphone.
In 1995, he founded Wilson B. Nkosi Communications and went on to work with leading advertising and communications agencies across Africa.
His contribution to the broadcasting and media industries has also earned him major honours, including a Metro FM Music Awards Long Service Award and a GQ Lifetime Achievement Award.
Adding another layer of significance to his appointment is Nkosi’s connection to Eswatini. Having grown up and attended school in the Kingdom, he brings to Sakha Live FM a combination of broadcasting heritage, commercial media experience and creative leadership.
Accepting the appointment, Nkosi said he was humbled by the confidence placed in him and looked forward to contributing to the station’s growth.
“I wish to thank Sakha Live Media Group and everyone involved in entrusting me with this responsibility,” Nkosi said.
He said his immediate priority would be establishing a strong corporate governance foundation built around accountability, sustainability and the station’s long-term success.
Nkosi will be joined on the newly constituted board by a diverse group of leaders drawn from culture, business, law, technology and finance.
Among them is Her Royal Highness Princess Sakhizwe Dlamini, Leader of the Imbali Regiment and a member of the Royal Commission, who also serves as Patron of the Made in Eswatini® Initiative.
Also joining the board is Tom Lin, Founder and CEO of Destiny Group, a multidisciplinary enterprise with a 25-year history spanning events, technology, ICT, construction and business solutions.
The board further includes Mlibatisi Sibusiso Kunene, an admitted attorney specialising in commercial law, intellectual property, property law and international trade; and Zanele Nyawo, an accounting and tax professional with expertise in financial management, taxation, compliance and governance.
The announcement was issued by Sakha Live FM Managing Director Melusi Zox Dlamini, who confirmed Nkosi’s appointment and the constitution of the new board.
Sakha Live FM is being developed by Sakha Live Media Group as a modern, youth-focused media platform aimed at entertaining, informing and educating audiences while connecting them with real opportunities.
With a broadcasting heavyweight such as Nkosi now at the helm of its board, the station enters its next chapter with a blend of experience, ambition and a strong connection to the region’s media heritage.
