MBABANE — Mbabane is preparing to step out of its everyday rhythm and into a day of community, business, entertainment and family fun as Mbabane Day returns for its second edition on 31 October 2026 at Coronation Park.

Running from 11am until late, the city celebration is expected to bring together residents, families, entrepreneurs, creatives and businesses under the message, “Our City. One Community. One Day.”

The latest development is the opening of merchant registration, giving local businesses an opportunity to take their products and services directly to the public during the event. The initiative matters because Mbabane Day is positioning itself not only as a recreational gathering, but also as a platform where businesses can gain visibility, connect with customers and contribute to the city’s economic and social life.

The Municipal Council of Mbabane has previously described Mbabane Day as an opportunity to build cohesion among residents and stakeholders. The council’s official events calendar lists Mbabane Day among its annual events, while the municipality manages a network of public spaces and parks across the city.

This year’s merchant call-out is particularly broad, with businesses invited to register under categories including motorshow and automotive, food, beverages, kids’ games and entertainment, crafts and handmade products, corporate and brand activations, as well as retail and other products and services.

For small businesses and emerging entrepreneurs, the event could provide more than a stall. It offers an opportunity to put a brand in front of a community audience, introduce new products and turn casual visitors into potential customers.

The organisers have, however, cautioned that space is limited. Applications will be shortlisted to avoid duplication between businesses and to support what the organisers describe as a profitable merchant experience. Only successful applicants will be contacted, and merchants have been warned not to make payment until their space has been confirmed.

Late applications will only be considered if space remains.

The event’s choice of Coronation Park also adds a community-centred dimension to the celebration. The park has long served as one of Mbabane’s public recreational spaces and has hosted community-oriented activities. Previous Mbabane Day activities at the park have included entertainment, food, family activities and opportunities for residents to make use of the city’s public spaces.

The message behind this year’s edition is simple but significant: Mbabane Day is about bringing the city together in one space.

For residents, it promises a day away from the usual work-and-home routine. For children, the inclusion of games and entertainment creates a family-friendly environment, while food and beverage vendors will add a market-style atmosphere. For entrepreneurs, meanwhile, the event creates a platform to showcase what they have built.

The municipality’s wider development of public spaces, parks, walkways and community facilities reinforces the idea of creating spaces where residents can interact beyond their daily routines.

With the second edition approaching, the invitation is therefore not only for people to attend, but for the city’s business community to become part of the experience.

Mbabane Day will take place on 31 October 2026 at Coronation Park from 11am until late. Businesses interested in securing a stall are encouraged to complete the merchant registration form, with spaces subject to shortlisting and confirmation.

Mbabane Day is more than a one-day celebration; it is using community, public space and local enterprise to encourage residents to experience, support and take pride in their city.
