CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK CELEBRATES PEOPLE BEHIND EVERY BUSINESS

MANZINI – Behind every sale is a person, and behind every successful business is a relationship built one customer at a time. That simple idea sits at the centre of Customer Service Week, which is being observed in Eswatini from October 5 to 9 under the theme “The Extra Mile.”

A customer may forget what they bought, but they are less likely to forget how they were treated while buying it and customer Service Week is a chance to celebrate those relationships and the people who make them possible. It is also a reminder that good service does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it starts with a warm greeting, a patient explanation or simply taking the time to listen.

For customers, these small moments can turn an ordinary visit into a good experience. A helpful employee can make someone feel welcome. A quick response can save time. A business that listens to feedback can show its customers that their opinions matter.

For employees, customer service is an opportunity to represent what their organisation stands for. Every conversation is a chance to build trust, solve a problem and leave someone with a positive impression.

The idea of going the extra mile can be found in these everyday moments. It may mean helping a customer find what they need, checking that a problem has been resolved or offering assistance before it is even requested.

Good customer service also creates a positive cycle. When customers feel appreciated, they are more likely to return and share their experience with others. When employees feel that their work makes a difference, they can take greater pride in the service they provide.

In a world where many businesses compete for attention, genuine human connection can still make a difference. Customer Service Week is therefore more than a celebration of customers. It is a celebration of people, relationships and the small acts of kindness that can turn a transaction into an experience.

And perhaps the best way to celebrate the week is to carry that spirit forward greeting people warmly, listening carefully, helping where we can and making every interaction count.
