MBABANE– Laughter is set to take centre stage in the capital this festive season as anticipation builds for A Festive Holiday Comedy Show, scheduled for 13 December 2025 at the iconic Mbabane Theatre Club.
Promising a night of high-energy entertainment, the production will unite some of the finest comedic talent from Eswatini and South Africa, with the celebrated Bexta headlining the event.
Bexta, the Botswana-born, Zimbabwe-raised South African comedian and actor whose popularity continues to surge across the continent, is expected to deliver a show-stopping performance. His razor-sharp humour, commanding stage presence and unrivalled charisma have earned him a loyal following that spans Southern Africa, making his appearance one of the show’s biggest drawcards. The event will commence at exactly 6:59 pm, maintaining the organisers’ tradition of playful precision.
Joining Bexta is a formidable line-up of South African comedians, each bringing their own signature style to the stage. Thando, beloved for his clean observational comedy that resonates with audiences of all ages, will lend his polished wit to the programme. Ntuthuland will offer his trademark expressive facial comedy — a talent that often leaves crowds laughing even before he speaks — while the ever-animated Dulas will showcase his colourful blend of physical comedy and spontaneous improvisation. Adding to the excitement is the dynamic duo Gap & Salad, famed for their quick-fire two-man acts and electric team chemistry.
Eswatini’s own comedic powerhouses will also shine, with Dr Shakes, Mdura, Cedric and Ntsetselelelo set to represent the Kingdom. Their inclusion ensures a strong local presence and guarantees that Eswatini’s unique comedic identity remains proudly on display.
Event organiser and headlining comedian Mdura shed light on the vision behind the show, expressing his determination to uplift Eswatini’s creative economy. He said the aim is not simply to entertain, but to actively nurture a stronger and more vibrant comedy culture in the country. “Our job is to entertain and give emaSwati the best entertainment they deserve,” he noted.
The inspiration for this collaborative showcase emerged after the success of the Thenjiwe Unplugged show in October. Mdura and South African comedic star Thando saw an opportunity to build a bridge between Eswatini and KwaZulu-Natal’s comedy circuits, creating a platform that celebrates diversity in humour while encouraging artistic exchange. According to Mdura, attendees can expect “a great quality comedy show of the highest level” — one defined by professionalism, refined performance and seamless comedic timing.
Despite the growing international recognition of the show, Mdura emphasised that no comedian can succeed without the support of their audience. He encouraged emaSwati to fill the venue, reminding them that ticket purchases play a crucial role in sustaining the creative arts. “The message is the same as before — we always appreciate the support we get,” he said.
Tickets are available for just E120 via MojaTicket, offering fans an affordable chance to experience a night of top-tier comedy. With Bexta and an extraordinary ensemble of regional talent set to illuminate the Mbabane Theatre Club stage, this is one festive occasion comedy lovers simply cannot afford to miss.
