MANZINI – Veteran gospel music legend Sipho “Big Fish” Makhabane delivered an electric speech at the launch of the National Gospel Music Awards (NGMA) on Thursday night, dropping bombshells that left the industry buzzing.
In front of a full house at The George Hotel, Makhabane declared that One Gospel and Soweto TV would begin airing the best gospel songs from Eswatini. But the biggest surprise? He revealed that Lindelani Mkhize, founder of Joyous Celebration, will choose one local artist to record a song with the globally acclaimed group.
“This is bigger than awards,” Makhabane told the crowd. “It’s about legacy, exposure, and giving our artists the platform they deserve.”
He wasn’t done.
Makhabane announced that a group of emerging gospel artists, regardless of current popularity, will tour the United Kingdom in February 2026. The UK gospel tour is part of the NGMA 2025 rollout, giving Eswatini talent a rare opportunity to shine on the global stage.
“This moment shows the power of gospel music to elevate, inspire, and connect people worldwide,” he said.
Minister Bongani Nzima hailed the announcements as a game-changer for the Eswatini creative economy.
“This proves we are serious about exporting Swati talent and unlocking new income streams through music,” he said.
“It aligns directly with His Majesty’s NKWE Vision, calling for innovation and growth in all sectors.”
The launch concluded with powerful performances and an emotional vote of thanks from the NGMA task team, who promised transparency, fairness, and excellence in the awards process.
