MBABANE –Botho University held its second graduation ceremony for Honours and Master’s degree graduates of the Class of 2024 at the George Hotel in Manzini.
The Head of Botho University in Eswatini, Dr. Viswanath Sankaranarayanan, delivered the keynote address, commending graduates on reaching a significant milestone in their academic journey. “Today, we gather to celebrate the remarkable transformation of our students from high school learners to graduates ready to serve society,” he said.
Dr. Viswanath highlighted the university’s growth since its establishment in Eswatini in 2019, starting with three faculties offering six degree programmes. He assured attendees that the graduates are well-equipped and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economy and beyond.
Reflecting on the graduates’ journey, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The journey has been long and, at times, exhausting. But it has also been thoughtful, fruitful, rewarding, and worthwhile,” he added.
He emphasized the university’s student-centric approach, designed to instill critical thinking an essential skill sought by industries today. “At BU, we encourage innovation, openness to diverse ideas, and appreciation of the unknown. These values help shape adaptable and thoughtful professionals” he said.
The event was graced by the Minister of Education and Training, Hon. Owen Nxumalo, who congratulated the graduates and lauded the university’s ongoing contribution to the country’s education sector.
He also promised to engage with his colleagues, Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi, to explore increasing number of scholarship opportunities for Botho University students.
Among the proud graduates was EBIS Radio Chief Editor Bhekizwe Maveni Gwebu, who received his Master of Business Administration (MBA). EBIS celebrated his achievement on its official Facebook page, stating, “Your dedication and pursuit of excellence inspire us all.” Warm congratulatory messages poured in from the public.
