NKONYENI – A Landmark Engagement with Media Highlights Progress, Preparedness, and Innovation.

In a momentous media engagement at the scenic Nkonyeni Golf Estate, Central Bank of Eswatini Governor Dr. Phil Mnisi delivered an inspiring address that outlined a bold path forward for the Kingdom’s economic development.

Addressing journalists from across the country, Dr. Mnisi emphasized the strategic importance of national projects currently underway, notably referencing a major development in Ezulwini that recently received the blessing of His Majesty the King.

“We were blessed with the presence of His Majesty when he cut the sword at Ezulwini,” Dr. Mnisi said, pointing to the significance of the project in reshaping the nation’s infrastructure and economic outlook. “We are doing all we can to ensure all relevant stakeholders are kept informed.”

The Governor’s remarks demonstrated the Central Bank’s proactive stance in steering the country through complex global economic tides. He acknowledged the emerging geopolitical challenges, including reciprocal tariffs introduced by the US, but remained optimistic about Eswatini’s resilience.

“We are certainly living in a time of uncertainty,” he said, “but this also opens up opportunities for strategic thinking and collaboration. Our media must understand not only what we’re doing, but why we’re doing it.”

Highlighting upcoming sessions led by the Central Bank’s Director of Research and Director of Financial Markets, Dr. Mnisi underscored the critical role of the media in economic literacy. “These conversations are vital. Monetary policy is at the heart of our financial stability, and we are committed to making it accessible and transparent.”

Innovation was a central theme, as Dr. Mnisi welcomed technological progress with enthusiasm. He announced that Starlink, the global satellite internet provider, has entered Eswatini with significantly reduced setup costs, paving the way for improved connectivity and digital transformation.

“The afternoon session on AI and technology is a clear indication of where the future is headed,” he noted. “We must optimize technology to create a more inclusive, efficient, and forward-looking economy.”

In closing, Dr. Mnisi’s tone was one of confidence and collaboration, inviting journalists to play an active role in informing the public and supporting Eswatini’s ongoing economic evolution.

“This engagement is not just a meeting—it’s a movement,” he said. “Together, we are shaping a stronger and more prosperous Eswatini.”
