MATSAPHA – Cheshire Homes of Eswatini (CHESWA) is calling on the public to lace up their hiking shoes and join the Malolotja Challenge Walk on Sunday, 8 June 2025, starting at 6:30am at Malolotja Nature Reserve.
This charity event offers a chance to explore nature while supporting vital rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.
Established in 1986, CHESWA operates under the Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance and provides holistic care to children and adults living with disabilities. Its 16 bed in patient facility in Matsapha supports clients with conditions such as cerebral palsy, clubfoot, and developmental delays.
Proceeds from the hike will help the organization acquire essential therapy equipment including wheelchairs, walking frames, and linen while also covering operational costs. The event, which is a key fundraiser for the non-profit, ensures continued access to therapy services for clients across Eswatini.
Participants can choose between 7km and 14km hike routes. A E250 contribution per individual or E5 000 for groups of 20 is required to register. The day includes warm up aerobics powered by Fitness Lab, as well as refreshments and water along the route.
The walk is open to individuals, families, churches, and companies. Businesses are encouraged to attend as part of corporate wellness or team building efforts, with the added benefit of promoting their services during the event.
CHESWA staff will be on site to engage with attendees and share how contributions directly impact lives. Transport support is also part of the organization’s services, ensuring clients within a 20km radius of the facility can access care with ease.
By taking part in this event, participants are doing more than hiking they’re helping to restore dignity, independence, and mobility for those who need it most. To register or learn more, contact 7659 7257 / 2518 6334. Donations can be sent via MTN MoMo: 7829 5009.
