MBABANE – A child headed home will now be relieved by the fact that they have been handed a new house in which they will stay.
The Sihlongonyane family of Zombodze Emuva was handed the house today (Thursday, October 10, 2024) by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla. Before being handed the house, the family has been staying in an old one room house.
According to information from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO), the family was also provided with a water tank, makeshift kitchen and a toilet. The oldest is a 15-year-old girl and the youngest is the three-year-old who were abandoned by both parents leaving them in the old structure, which is leaking when it is raining. Sikhulile (15) thanked the DPM for providing them with a new house.
The DPM thanked the Inkhundla council, neighbours and everyone who have been caring for these children. “These children are still young, and they need all of us to grow up as responsible citizens. No one should abuse them and as a community please continue to monitor them,” the DPM said.
MP Ntando Mkhonta appreciated the Deputy Prime Minister for timely construction of the house. He narrated that when he first came to visit the household, it was raining and everything inside was wet. “The situation was very bad and I was really touched,” the MP said.
