MBABANE– Eswatini’s Country music star Cleopatra Methula has claimed the number one spot on the Apple Music Country Songs chart with her touching new single, ‘Where Do We Hide’, which was released two weeks ago.

The soul-stirring track has resonated deeply with listeners, becoming the most streamed Country music song this week on Apple Music Eswatini.

Inspired by a distressing news story about a 13-year-old deaf girl raped and abandoned in Eswatini, Methula’s ‘Where Do We Hide’ channels raw grief and outrage into a call for justice.

“That story shattered me,” Methula shared in a press release. “How can anyone harm a defenceless child? This song is for the voiceless, asking, ‘Where do we hide those who can’t fight?’” The track confronts the escalating violence, rape, and murder plaguing Eswatini and the rest of Africa, reflecting the fear gripping communities.

Available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and TikTok, ‘Where Do We Hide’ has sparked nationwide dialogue, with fans and activists praising its emotional depth and bold challenge to societal inaction. Methula hopes the song will galvanise efforts to combat gender-based violence. “I’m just a singer with simple songs,” she said, “but I dream we can unite, raise our voices, and find real solutions.”

As Eswatini grapples with rising crime, Methula’s chart-topping hit underscores her growing influence. Blending cultural roots with a fierce commitment to social justice, her music offers hope amid despair.
