LOBAMBA – Eswatini is entering a transformative era of digital connectivity, with government initiatives aimed at expanding internet access and enhancing public service delivery.
During his address, King Mswati III outlined plans to ensure that every Liswati benefits from the digital revolution.
Government has already connected 48 Tinkhundla centers and several public offices to free Wi-Fi as part of a broader plan to bridge the digital divide. Over the next 24 months, the country will roll out a massive fiber-optic expansion project to strengthen Eswatini’s digital backbone.
The King emphasized the role of technology in modern governance, calling for increased transparency through live-streamed parliamentary debates and online access to legislation.
“It is now time that every Liswati has access to laws passed and can follow parliamentary proceedings live,” he said.
Eswatini is also engaging global technology companies through partnerships aimed at promoting digital skills and innovation. The Royal Science and Technology Park will play a crucial role in equipping the nation with the expertise needed for a digital-first future.
As the country accelerates its ICT development, these initiatives are expected to create new economic opportunities, enhance education, and streamline government services.
