SIDVOKODVO— From spinning records behind the microphone to building a business empire beyond the entertainment industry, South African media personality and entrepreneur DJ Sbu is bringing his story of hustle, setbacks and success to Eswatini.
DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, is among the headline speakers announced for the LaunchPad Business Conference, scheduled for October 2 and 3, 2026, at TLC Events Centre in Sidvokodvo.
The two-day conference, held under the theme “Faith & Business”, is expected to bring together entrepreneurs, business leaders and aspiring visionaries for conversations around business, purpose, networking and growth.
Known for his career as a radio and television presenter, DJ, musician and entrepreneur, DJ Sbu rose to prominence through South African radio and entertainment before expanding his brand into business. He is famously associated with MoFaya, the South African energy drink brand he co-founded, as well as his work in music, broadcasting and entrepreneurship.
Speaking ahead of the conference, DJ Sbu said he was looking forward to sharing the realities behind his entrepreneurial journey.
“I’ll be talking about how I started this(Mofaya) baby 13 years ago, how difficult it was, the ups and downs of building a manufacturing company while building, I’d say, one of the biggest brands or fastest growing brands in the African continent,” he said.
DJ Sbu will be joined by an extensive lineup of speakers including Senator Sylvia Mthethwa, Honourable Khumalo, Fundile Thobela-Hlatshwayo, Samkeliso Nkambule, Ndumiso Dlamini, Colisile Tfwala-Brooks, Dylan Friedman, Gcinizwe Fakudze, Thamsanqa Sibandze, Dr Afua Wilcox Sibandze, Mbongeni Matsebula, Tiffany Robinson, Steve Mupaikwa, Zama Potgieter, Benjamin Jones, Paige Michnal, Zakithi Motsa and Vivianne Dumas.
For the entrepreneur, the conference is not only about business success but also about creating a space where people can learn from one another.
He encouraged entrepreneurs not to be discouraged by the difficulties that come with building a business.
“Guys, business is not easy, but it’s nice when you’ve got other people that are walking the journey from time to time to meet with other like-minded business owners. So we share ideas, we learn from one another, we network.”
DJ Sbu’s appearance adds an entertainment edge to a conference largely focused on business, while his personal journey offers attendees an opportunity to hear about perseverance, brand-building and the challenges of turning an idea into a recognised business.
The LaunchPad Business Conference will also feature a lineup of speakers from different industries, creating a platform for entrepreneurs at various stages of their journeys.
DJ Sbu is calling on aspiring and established entrepreneurs to attend, promising an experience centred on knowledge, connection and fresh perspectives.
The conference will take place on October 2–3 at TLC Events Centre, with tickets available through LaunchPad Eswatini’s official platforms.
