MBABANE – The residents of Ntfonjeni Inkhundla witnessed a life-changing event for Sisana Juana Hlatjwako, a 63-year-old widow and mother of 11 children who was built a house after years of living in a shed.
The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla, took centre stage in this transformative moment as she presented Sisana with the brand new two-bedroom house yesterday (Wednesday, June 3, 2024).
The DPM highlighted that her actions were not merely a random act of kindness but a part of a larger initiative driven by the King’s mandate to prioritise the well-being and development of Emaswati.
She further emphasised the importance of ensuring that Emaswati live comfortably in their communities, echoing the sentiments expressed by the King during Sibaya.
Sisana Hlatjwako, who had been living in a dilapidated shed, expressed profound gratitude for her new home, symbolising hope and resilience for her and her family.
“I don’t know what to say. I am so grateful that finally I have a beautiful house,” she said.
The construction of the house was made possible by the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and funded by the generous contributions of Phillip Morrison.
Deputy Prime Minister Dladla, praised Sisana’s children for their involvement in the construction process despite facing their own challenges, highlighting the importance of unity and support within families during challenging times.
Speaking during the handover, Ntfonjeni Member of Parliament (MP) Raymond Dlamini hailed the DPM for her unwavering dedication to the vulnerable in the community.
As a gesture of goodwill, DPM Dladla also donated essential supplies to the Hlatjwako family, by donating essential supplies like rice, beans, and sponges, demonstrating the spirit of kindness and solidarity that defines this heart-warming tale.
