LOBAMBA – Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla has made a passionate call for the strengthening of laws to deal more decisively with perpetrators of rape, particularly those who target young children.

Her call was made during a Senate session where the urgent need to protect vulnerable members of society took centre stage.

The DPM emphasised that the country must take a firm stand against sexual violence and explore more effective legal measures to ensure justice for victims, while also deterring would-be offenders.

Echoing her sentiments, Senator Lorraine Nxumalo proposed the establishment of specialised courts dedicated to handling cases of rape and sexual violence. She noted that such courts would help fast-track justice, offer a victim-centred approach, and ensure that cases are handled with the sensitivity and seriousness they deserve.

These calls reflect a growing commitment by Eswatini’s leaders to strengthen the nation’s legal framework and protect the dignity and rights of every Liswati, especially children. The advocacy by both leaders is expected to spark further dialogue and action toward a safer and more just society.
