MBABANE – Athletes will win big in the Yellow Charity Epilepsy Half Marathon to be held on February 1, 2025.
Both men and women champions in the 21km will take home E5 000 each with the runner’s up getting E3 000 and its E2 000 for the third finishers. Also to be rewarded will be the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positioned. This was announced by Eswatini Epilepsy Organization (EEO) Director Operations Abraham Ntshalinstshali on Thursday (December 19, 2024).
The race that was launched last month will comprise of 21km, 10km and 5km. Registration for the event is already opened and it’s E200 for the 21km, E170 for the 10km and E140 for the 5km. The money to be raised during the event will go all the way assisting people affected by epilepsy in the country.
Registration can be done manually at EEO offices behind the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, Mbabane, Fitness Zone in Manzini and Ezulwini, Futis outlets in Mbabane, Manzini, Matsapha, Nhlangano and Mankayane. Early registration will closes on December 31, 2024 with online registration opened.
EEO Director Operations Abraham Ntshalinstshali said the race will be good for all people especially as it will be held after the Festive season. He said it will also give competing athletes the chances to win big prizes.
Last year, the winners in the 21km took home E3 500.
“We are happy to announce the big prizes to be won in 2025 edition of the charity half marathon. We urge people to register early and also get ready for the race. The prizes are for all the events including the 10km, 5km and there is also prizes for grand masters, masters, veteran and juniors in all the categories,” said Ntshalinstshali.
The start and finish points of the race will be at the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games (EOCGA) office in Lobamba.
