EKUKHANYENI HIGH CELEBRATES 7 YEARS OF TRIUMPH AT INYATSI COMPETITIONS

MANZINI– Ekukhanyeni High School has once again made history by securing first position in the Drum Majorettes category at the Inyatsi Schools Art and Culture Competitions 2025, which was underway on June 20, 2025, at Lobamba Technical Centre.

This remarkable win marks the seventh consecutive year the school has held the title, having proudly defended it since 2019. Ekukhanyeni scored an impressive 98.1%, taking home a trophy and a cash prize of E10 000.

Lungile Khumalo, the trainer of the Drum Majorettes team, expressed immense pride and honor during the interview. “We feel incredibly proud and honored to have defended our title once again. This victory is not just a celebration of our talent, but a reflection of our unity, discipline, and the spirit of excellence that defines Ekukhanyeni High School ‘Kwakhanya Bha’ family. It is a moment of joy for the entire school and community,” she shared.

The competition featured national schools that had emerged victorious from their respective regional contests, making this achievement even more significant. In the final rankings for the Drum Majorettes category, the results were as follows:

High Schools Category:

  1. Ekukhanyeni High School- 98.1%
  2. Hermann Gmeiner (SOS) High School- 96.9%
  3. Makhonza High School- 95%

Additionally, in the Primary Schools category, the results were:

  1. Manzini Central Primary School- 97%
  2. Sydney Williams Primary School-96.9%
  3. St. Marks Primary School-96.3%

Khumalo detailed the intense preparations that led to their success. “We have built a strong culture of commitment and teamwork over the years, and that showed in our performance. Our dedication has made all the difference,” she explained. This victory is particularly special as they have proudly held the number one spot in the Drum Majorettes category since 2019. “This legacy motivates us to keep raising the bar,” Khumalo added.

Located in the vibrant Manzini Region of Eswatini, specifically near Mbuluzana, Ekukhanyeni High School is part of a rural community known for its resilience and talent. The school is committed to nurturing young people’s creativity and cultural expression.

Khumalo also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Inyatsi Foundation and all stakeholders who made the competition possible. “Your support empowers young people to express their creativity, preserve our culture, and build confidence. Thank you for believing in the potential of Eswatini’s youth,”she said.

Looking ahead, Khumalo is excited about future competitions. “Absolutely! We are not just coming back—we are coming back stronger. We are committed to defending our title and continuing to inspire through arts and culture. The journey doesn’t end here,” she concluded.

With this victory, Ekukhanyeni High School not only celebrates its accomplishments but also sets a high standard for future competitions, inspiring other schools to strive for excellence in the arts.
