NGWEMPISI– Young people across Ngwempisi Inkhundla are set to gain practical life skills and entrepreneurship knowledge when the Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC), in partnership with Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth and the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Council, hosts a Youth Empowerment and Life Skills Seminar on September 12, 2026.
The seminar, to be held at the Ngwempisi Inkhundla premises, will bring together relevant stakeholders, financial institutions and youth-led organisations to expose young people to skills, resources and opportunities relevant to their personal and economic development.
The initiative was officially announced during a joint meeting between the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth Committee and the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Council at the Inkhundla Boardroom.
Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth Committee Chairperson Ellis Dlamini said the initiative demonstrated the determination of young people to take an active role in shaping their futures.
Describing the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth Committee as a powerhouse of unity and determination, Dlamini said the structure was built on discipline, respect and smart work.
“This is more than just a team; it is a family built on discipline, respect and smart work. Every member brings something unique, and together that strength becomes unstoppable. We push each other to be better, we stand together in challenges and we celebrate every victory as one,” he said.
Dlamini said the youth committee served as an important bridge between young people in the chiefdoms and local government structures through the Tinkhundla system.
He said the seminar would provide a platform for young people to engage directly with financial institutions, relevant stakeholders and youth-led organisations while gaining knowledge that could assist them in pursuing entrepreneurship and other economic opportunities.
“This initiative is aligned with His Majesty’s vision of a prosperous, self-reliant and globally competitive Eswatini driven by skilled human capital,” said Dlamini.
He added that human capital development remained central to the country’s transformation agenda through the Nkwe Programme of Action.
Dlamini said the seminar would challenge the traditional mindset of completing studies solely to seek formal employment.
“For too long, the traditional mindset has been to graduate and immediately look for employment. Young people must also begin to embrace entrepreneurship and see themselves as innovators and creators of jobs,” he said.
He said the initiative was intended to expose participants to opportunities beyond formal employment and encourage them to develop skills that respond to the demands of the modern economy.
Dlamini noted that reforms such as Competency-Based Education sought to develop learners according to their talents and capabilities while preparing them for the skills needs of a changing economy.
He described the seminar as a gateway that would help connect young people with institutions, programmes and resources while narrowing the gap between education and industry requirements.
“Our youth are not merely the future of Eswatini; they are a dynamic force capable of transforming our economy today,” he said.
Dlamini added that Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth remained committed to representing and advocating for young people while promoting leadership, participation and inclusivity across the Inkhundla.
Speaking on behalf of the Ngwempisi Inkhundla Council, Indvuna Yenkhundla Mliba Mabuza assured the youth committee of the council’s full support.
Mabuza said the council remained committed to serving the people of Ngwempisi with respect and dignity and supporting initiatives that prepared young people for meaningful participation in the economy.
“As Ngwempisi Inkhundla, we are ready to advance His Majesty’s vision for a skills-driven economy,” said Mabuza.
He said practical skills and entrepreneurship knowledge were essential in building sustainable and resilient futures for young people.
Mabuza urged young people from across Ngwempisi Inkhundla’s five chiefdoms to attend the September 12 seminar and make full use of the opportunity.
He also encouraged them to approach the seminar with an open and focused mindset.
“A stable mindset is a great asset that cultivates wisdom,” he said.
Young people from all five chiefdoms under Ngwempisi Inkhundla are now being urged not to miss the September 12 seminar, which presents an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, engage directly with financial institutions and stakeholders, and explore pathways into entrepreneurship and other economic opportunities.
The Ngwempisi Inkhundla Youth Committee has called on young people to come in their numbers, participate actively and take full advantage of the platform.
“This is an opportunity for every young person in Ngwempisi to take a step towards a better future. Come ready to learn, to ask questions, to connect and to explore the opportunities available to you,” the committee urged.
With the ENYC, Ngwempisi Inkhundla Council, financial institutions, relevant stakeholders and youth-led organisations expected to converge at the Inkhundla premises, the seminar promises to be more than just a gathering.
It will be a meeting point between potential and opportunity.
