LOBAMBA — Eswatini is set to welcome a new wave of foreign investment as several American businesspeople have pledged to establish operations in the Kingdom, promising increased employment opportunities for Emaswati.
His Majesty King Mswati III announced the development during a press conference at Ludzidzini Royal Residence, following his return from the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The King revealed that he held fruitful discussions with multiple global investors who expressed strong interest in Eswatini’s business environment.
“Each businessperson promised to come to Eswatini to open businesses,” the King said. He further noted that multinational companies such as Coca-Cola reassured potential investors that they would receive favorable treatment in the country, citing their own positive experience operating in Eswatini.
Investors have already begun engaging with the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade to explore practical avenues for establishing their operations. The King also shared that discussions with Mexican business interests are underway, building on a recent visit to Mexico to explore further investment opportunities.
During his UNGA visit, His Majesty emphasized Eswatini’s commitment to peace, climate action, and sustainable development, reflecting the Kingdom’s alignment with global goals such as Agenda 2063 and the Paris Agreement. He highlighted the importance of promoting environmentally sustainable industries that create jobs while preserving nature, a principle that guides Eswatini’s economic growth strategy.
Several significant initiatives were also launched in New York, including the Google Collaboration to strengthen digital infrastructure, the Stardust Initiative which leverages space technology for climate and youth innovation, and the She Powers Africa Program aimed at empowering young women in STEM and ICT fields. Anchored by the Royal Science and Technology Park, these projects aim to position Eswatini as a regional leader in technology and innovation.
Reflecting on the UNGA experience, the King stated: “Eswatini is on track to achieve Sustainable Development Goals in education, health, poverty alleviation, and access to clean water. Our progress, combined with strategic investments, will expand opportunities for all Emaswati.”
The visit marks a new chapter for Eswatini, as the nation strengthens global partnerships, attracts foreign investment, and creates pathways for inclusive economic growth
