MBABANE – In an effort to enhance accessibility of the ShareSha Digital Wallet, Eswatini Bank is now rolling out the product using various agents.
The product was launched by the bank in 2023. The product has cutting edge features such as scan to pay, prepaid card loading, bill payment, airtime and top-ups.
Today (Monday, November 25, 2024), Eswatini Bank had a media briefing at the Headquarters of the bank in Mbabane, which was also attended by the fourth cohort of the ShareSha agents. Eswatini Bank Managing Director (MD) Nozizwe Mulela congratulated and thanked the agents for choosing to work with Eswatini Bank to market the product to their various places of work.
The agents work in many different places, including shops situated across different parts of the country. Mulela said this was the right time for the agents and the bank to roll out the digital wallet. The MD emphasised that the digital wallet was available for both account holders and non-account holders of the bank.
Mulela said the product was launched last year to move from the brick-and-mortar ways of doing banking to enable the bank’s customers to enjoy the bank’s services through their phones. Mulela said Eswatini Bank was a bank that belonged to Emaswati. Therefore, all Emaswati were supposed to have this product in order to develop their bank.
She described the product as the one that brought banking services closer to the people by eliminating banking costs such as travelling to access the banking services. Mulela said the product was widespread, through the agents, who would be willing to assist Emaswati have access to this service. She described this product as directed towards supporting financial inclusion in the country.
Positive impact created by ShareSha banking had already been seen in the communities, where the service had already been working during its piloting, which kicked off during the third quarter of this year. Nhlanhla Magagula, who works at the bank’s e-banking unit, shed more light on how the product worked. He said the product allowed a person to pay for school fees, as long as the school to which the school fees were paid was banking with Eswatini Bank.
Buhle Dlamini, who works at KaNcesi Filling Station, thanked Eswatini Bank for giving the product, which had minimal charges. She thanked the team from Eswatini Bank, which she described as responsive and always willing to help. She said she saw a way forward because the people who gave her the product were always willing to help.
