ESWATINI CLUBS AWAITS DRAW FOR CONTINENTAL OPPONENTS

MBABANE – The wait is almost over for Eswatini’s football faithful as the nation’s two representatives in Confederation of African  Football (CAF) interclub competitions are set to discover their opponents in the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Interclub Preliminary Round Draw, which will take place this Saturday, 9 August  in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

CAF Champions League-bound Nsingizini Hotspurs and CAF Confederation Cup entrants Royal Leopard will be keeping a close eye on the draw, as it will determine their first hurdles on the road to potential continental glory.

This marks another historic chapter for the ambitious Nsingizini Hotspurs, who will be making their debut appearance in the prestigious CAF Champions League. The club will be aiming to make a strong statement against some of Africa’s most seasoned teams.

Meanwhile, Royal Leopard, no strangers to the CAF Confederation Cup, are expected to build on their past experience as they return to continental action. The police side will be looking to better their previous campaigns and advance further in the tournament.

The Preliminary Round of the competitions is scheduled to kick off on 19 September 2025, with the Second Preliminary Round slated to begin on 17 October 2025. These early rounds will determine which teams progress to the lucrative group stages.

The draw in Dar es Salaam is expected to generate buzz across the continent, with clubs from various footballing nations awaiting their matchups. For Eswatini, the event offers a moment of pride and anticipation, as both Hotspurs and Leopard prepare to carry the nation’s hopes into Africa’s elite football arena.
