MBABANE – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has shared the country’s progress on women’s rights at the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Conference in New York, USA.
Dladla spoke about how Eswatini has increased the number of women in leadership and Parliament, improved policies to support women’s economic growth, and changed laws to make sure women have better access to justice.
She also announced that His Majesty King Mswati III has declared a new public holiday called Lutsango Day, to be celebrated every March. This day will recognize the important role of women in the country.
At the conference, world leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, praised the progress made in supporting women. They also agreed to continue working together to strengthen women’s rights across the world.
Eswatini remains committed to ensuring women have equal opportunities and are empowered to succeed in all areas of life.
