MBABANE – Eswatini’s youth-driven radio show “The Afternoon Escape (TAE)” is expanding its reach beyond national borders through a strategic collaboration with Kaya 959.
The popular programme will feature on the station’s Global Swap segment, an initiative designed to connect African radio shows through live crossovers that celebrate culture, music and everyday life across the continent. The segment forms part of Drive 959, hosted by seasoned broadcaster Glen Lewis, alongside Skhumba Hlophe and Kgomotso Meso.
Through Global Swap, presenters from different countries engage in short, live conversations that offer listeners a window into each nation’s identity. Discussions range from tourism and entertainment to social trends and lifestyle, while also introducing audiences to music shaping different regions.
Representing Eswatini in this exchange is TAE, hosted by Nomalungelo Dladla and Sibongiseni Lukhele. The show, which airs on EBIS 2, has steadily built a strong following through its energetic format that blends local music, humour, lifestyle content and audience engagement.
The hosts expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, noting that it provides a platform to share Eswatini’s story with a wider African audience. They aim to highlight the country’s vibrant creative industry, emerging music talent and unique cultural identity, while also showcasing its tourism appeal and evolving urban lifestyle.
Beyond exposure, the collaboration creates a meaningful cultural exchange, allowing Eswatini audiences to tap into South African trends while offering a fresh perspective to listeners across the border.
