MBABANE – Eswatini’s unique governance model, which merges traditional leadership with modern governance, was highlighted at the Dubai World Government Summit 2025.

King Mswati III presented Eswatini’s Tinkhundla system, emphasizing its community-driven approach to decision-making.

“Our governance model is based on inclusivity, consultation, and ensuring that the voices of our people are heard,” the King said. He underscored how Sibaya, Eswatini’s national dialogue platform, has been effective in fostering citizen engagement in policymaking.

While deeply rooted in tradition, Eswatini is embracing modernization through digital governance reforms. The government is enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen engagement through technology. The King emphasized that embracing artificial intelligence and e-governance solutions will complement traditional governance structures.

Eswatini’s model demonstrates that tradition and progress can coexist. By maintaining its cultural heritage while integrating modern digital governance, the country offers a blueprint for nations looking to merge historical governance structures with contemporary leadership practices.

The King called on global leaders to recognize the value of governance systems that reflect local traditions while adapting to global advancements. This approach, he argued, fosters stability, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
